The Happy Analogues has made history by becoming the first Filipino-American band to record at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London.

John Lennon famously penned “In My Life,” a song that evokes vivid memories of specific places. For the Happy Analogues, the studio where Lennon recorded this masterpiece holds a special place in their hearts. On February 19, 2026, the quartet captured their musical vision at this revered institution, becoming the first Filipino-American group to achieve this remarkable feat.

Ted Reyes, the band’s producer and composer, expressed his disbelief and gratitude for this extraordinary experience. “I am still pinching myself,” he said. “It is beyond my wildest dreams and more.”

Reyes composed new songs for the project, envisioning a specific sound that could only be achieved within the walls of Abbey Road Studios. He established pre-production communications with his chosen engineer, Gordon Davidson, and communicated his desired musical vision. Upon their arrival at the studio, Gordon and his assistant, Freddie Light, were already setting up the instruments. The first piece they played, a rendition of Monet, was already in sync with Reyes’s expectations, demonstrating their mastery of the craft.

The band underwent the recording process with Rich Saguirre on drums, Ronnie Lao on bass, and Paul Zurita on guitar. Reyes played both piano and guitar, and he invited Beverly Zurita and Sheryl Reyes to provide backing vocals.

“It was a privilege to collaborate with these esteemed musicians using legendary equipment within the hallowed confines of this iconic space,” Reyes expressed. “I gained invaluable insights from them during the session.”

The tracks were mixed by Davidson and mastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios.

The band has not yet announced a release date, but according to Reyes, the album could be released in May 2026 as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of their debut album, “Lilacs and Politics.”
